Is TV the new model for breaking music acts? Yes, according to Jeff Straughn, VP-strategic marketing at Island Def Jam Music Group.
Popular, Virginia-based band Parachute has teamed up with skin care company Nivea to create an acoustic version of their tune She is Love for a new:30 ‘sensual’ ad spot. Turns out to be a huge win-win for both the brand and the band, with Nivea seeing a sales lift of 15 – 18% and Parachute seeing over 900,000 streams on their MySpace page and over 20,000 paid downloads on iTune.
